fun with Delayne learning about resin!

posted May 23, 2012, 4:37 AM by Heidi Hardner

We had a great class from Delayne about resin, doing inclusions of glass and other materials.  I'll include some pics of our creations!
I can see  that getting really good photos of the resin items would take more work.  My usual photo technique shooting straight down on stuff with minimal reflections makes the resin completely disappear on some of these but in person they have a very glassy, water way about them.
Anyway, we may have to talk Delayne into working with us again!

Thanks to all who participated in our flame-a-thon for Beads of Courage yesterday. And thanks to Malcom for hosting us.
Sorry to say, I was busy making and photoing beads and failed to take any general photos of the event!

Michal Silberberg class - Sept. 4

posted Sep 4, 2011, 7:52 PM by Heidi Hardner   [ updated Sep 4, 2011, 8:04 PM ]

We had a fun time with visiting instructor Michal Silberberg today.
Everyone collaborated to make a variety of different colors of multilayered stringers from Michal's recipes.
Then we made several different beads with gradated-colored stripes made by close-packing the multilayered stringers and using presses.
This fun owl was one of the projects.
Here are some pics from my phone, sorry the photo quality isn't better....

Michal Silberberg visit

posted Jul 19, 2011, 5:33 AM by Heidi Hardner

We're hosting a one-day class with Michal Silberberg on 2 dates in Sept.
She'll be visiting from Israel and this will be her first time teaching in the US though she's done classes in Europe.
With 2 dates there are 20 slots so it can really be a group activity.
Info and sign-up here.
We also plan to have a public open-house with a demo and chance to buy her work after class one of the evenings. More on that later.

fun weekend at art-a whirl

We had a fun weekend at Art-a-Whirl.  Much thanks to Wendy Mosman for coordinating this new event.  We had demonstrations going fairly continuously all weekend and met a lot of new people including many in the glassblowing community.  Here are a couple of pics  - one showing our new club banner (thanks to Lia Huemoeller for our new graphics designs!) and one showing James Henke demonstrating a marble...

We made 74 beads during the day and people brought many more with them - I'm sending in a total of 439 beads!
Great work everyone.
Here's a picture of a selection of beads made during the event and one of the action (taken by Gayle)....
